Md. Shakerul Islam is a Nuclear Engineer and Researcher specializing in nuclear reactor analysis, simulation, automation, intelligent control systems, and nuclear data management. He completed his Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Nuclear Science and Technology from Xi'an Jiaotong University with a CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00. Prior to that, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Military Institute of Science and Technology with a CGPA of 3.13 out of 4.00.
During his master's studies, he conducted advanced research on VVER-1200 reactor modeling and simulation under the supervision of Dr. Liangzhi Cao. His research focused on reactor physics analysis and computational modeling using the specialized nuclear reactor analysis codes NECP-Bamboo1.0 and NECP-Bamboo_C, developed by the Nuclear Engineering Computational Physics (NECP) Laboratory of Xi'an Jiaotong University. His work involved reactor core modeling, fuel management analysis, burnable absorber evaluation, and reactor performance simulations for advanced Generation III+ nuclear power reactors.
During his undergraduate studies, he conducted research on the Design and Development of an Integrated Intelligent Safety System and Real-Time Data Visualization Model for a Prototype Boiler Reactor under the supervision of Dr. Altab Hossain. The project incorporated intelligent automation, sensor-based monitoring, PID control systems, real-time data acquisition, Arduino-based control architectures, remote operation, and human-machine interface (HMI) development.
In addition to his academic research, Md. Shakerul Islam has completed multiple engineering and research projects in the fields of nuclear data centralization and management systems, industrial automation, intelligent monitoring systems, nuclear robotics, cybersecurity and security penetration testing, embedded systems development, and real-time process control. His interdisciplinary research interests encompass nuclear reactor physics, reactor safety analysis, computational nuclear engineering, intelligent control systems, industrial automation, digital instrumentation and control, robotics, and data-driven engineering solutions.
He has authored and co-authored several journal articles and conference proceedings and continues to pursue research aimed at integrating advanced computational methods, automation technologies, and intelligent control strategies into modern nuclear and industrial systems.
